You can import information from other applications into iMagic Inventory via CSV files.
The first step would be to export your information from your application into a CSV file, in this case I've exported from Excel and saved the file onto the desktop.
If you have existing inventory it's a good idea to backup your database before starting the import process, then if you make a mistake you can revert to the backup rather than deleting the incorrectly imported items individually. To backup select File/Backup Database.
To import select File/Import Inventory.
Select the CSV file you want to import. iMagic Inventory will then open the file and create a preview of the import.
The import fields show which column in the CSV file should match to which field in iMagic Inventory. If the field isn't automatically detected then you can select it from the list. If you don't want a column imported the select (ignore).
The preview list displays your CSV file, generally the first line in the CSV file will contain the field names but if it doesn't you can uncheck this option.
You may find that the fields are bunched up into a single column this is caused when you're using a different Field separator that the one selected. In this case my CSV file is using a comma, but if yours is using a semi-colon you can select it here.
If you have existing inventory and you want those items updated with what is in the CSV file check the 'Overwrite existing items'. You may want to do this when updating vendor pricing for example.
Click Next to begin the import process. iMagic Inventory will then import the details from the CSV file.
